The history of Château de Labro and its seigneury dates back to the 16th century and the Créato family who became rich through trading.
At the end of the 17th century, Labro came into the hands of the Patris family which included some important people. For instance Abbot Guillaume de Patris, Cardinal d'Armagnac's right-hand
man, won renown during the wars of religion by foiling a Protestant plot to take Rodez.
In the 19th century, Labro belonged to the Maynier family. The assassination of State prosecutor Antoine Fualdès in 1817 was to make a profound mark on Aveyron history on account of its mysteries
and its sordid side. Joseph de Maynier, a magistrate and royalist activist, was instrumental - with others - in concealing the existence of a plot that would end in innocent people being executed.
This famous affair mobilised the whole of France and made an impact abroad.
Jean and Nizou Rouquet fell under Château Labro's spell and bought it in 2001. Since then, Jean, with the help of his wife, has organised the restoration work
to be done professionally in order to restore life to this long-neglected place. As far as Jean Rouquet is concerned, this is also a return to his roots: Aveyron is his native region.
